Lift Expo Morocco 2025 Brought the African Elevator Industry Together in Casablanca

Lift Expo Morocco 2025, one of North Africa’s leading events in the elevator, escalator, and vertical transportation technologies sector, was successfully held from December 10–12, 2025, in Casablanca, Morocco’s commercial and industrial hub. Held at the OFEC – Casablanca International Fairground, the exhibition brought together industry professionals from Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, shedding light on the region’s emerging vertical transportation market.

Held during a period of rapidly increasing demand for elevator and escalator systems in Africa, driven by growing urban transformation projects, residential investments, and infrastructure development, the event highlighted elevator systems, motor and drive solutions, control units, cabin equipment, safety systems, and energy-efficient technologies. Lift Expo Morocco 2025 served as a key gathering point that highlighted the sector’s current dynamics and the future expectations of the regional market.

The Moroccan market: Import-dependent but with high growth potential

The strong turnout at this year’s Lift Expo Morocco is no coincidence. Morocco has emerged as a strategic growth market for the elevator sector in recent years.

Due to limited domestic production capacity, the market relies heavily on imports. According to 2022 data, Morocco imported approximately $80 million worth of complete elevators and over $70 million worth of components.

It is reported that the annual demand for new elevator stands at 4,500–6,000 units, and this figure is expected to rise above 7,000 units in the medium term due to the impact of major projects.

Demand is particularly concentrated in the following areas:
• Multi-story residential projects
• Hotel and tourism investments
• Shopping centers and office buildings
• Hospitals and public buildings
• Transportation infrastructure (metro, stations, airports)

The 2030 World Cup effect: The market is gaining momentum

Morocco’s preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup are creating a wave of investment in the sector. New stadiums, hotels, transportation hubs, and mixed-use projects are driving not only new installations but also increasing the need for high-capacity, energy-efficient, and resilient systems.

This process holds the potential to position Morocco not only as a regional elevator hub for North Africa but for the entire continent.

Turkish firms demonstrated their strength in Africa

At Lift Expo Morocco 2025, the Turkish elevator and ancillary industry attracted attention with extensive company participation and a strong product variety.

Among the companies participating in the fair:
AH&MET Elevator, Asiller Elevator, Eker Motor, Löher, Avelic Elevator, Panora, Türkray, Onaylift, Akış Cable, Aygünray, Akış Machine, Fupa, Alyans Elevator, Özbeşler, Erasis, ERT Elevator, İdalift, Erdenlift, Balabak Pulley, Yırsan, Heytech, Arti Kasnak, Astes, Centa, Aybey Elektronik, Konel, Prolift Elevator, Aterya, GENEMEK, Erkan Lift, Tabel Sanisess Steel, Fenac, Qualift, Passlift, Kayatec, Selas, and Türkelray.

Turkish companies’ competitive pricing advantage, flexible production capacity, wide product range, and technical solution capabilities drew significant attention throughout the fair.

The bilateral business meetings and technical discussions held further strengthened the export potential of Turkish companies not only in Morocco but also in North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Arab markets.

Modernization and service: A hidden growth area

In the Moroccan market, not only new installations but also the modernization and maintenance segment is growing rapidly.

Buildings constructed in the 1990s and 2000s, which are now technologically outdated, present significant potential for renovation and component upgrades in the coming period.

Additionally, the shortage of qualified technical personnel and limited service infrastructure have made after-sales services a critical competitive factor.

This situation creates significant opportunities, particularly for companies with a strong service network capable of offering sustainable solutions.
